Kitsch isn’t just a coffee shop; it’s a hidden gem nestled in the vibrant heart of Baltimore, specifically at 500 W University Pkwy, inside the lively Johns Hopkins University Homewood campus. This café proudly offers a rustic charm paired with top-notch culinary options, drawing in both students and locals alike. With a focus on quality, Kitsch serves an array of specialty drinks and delicious breakfast sandwiches that entice with every bite.

As a reviewer, I couldn’t help but be drawn to their innovative offerings, particularly the matcha latte and the Lavender Honey Latte. The unsweetened matcha latte is an artful and health-conscious choice, showcasing the quality of the matcha without overwhelming sweetness. Meanwhile, the Lavender Honey Latte strikes a balance between floral notes and creamy coffee, creating a delightful experience worth savoring.

However, the standout at Kitsch is undoubtedly their breakfast sandwiches. Customers rave about the “Steak & Egg” and “Cuban” sandwiches, both served on a delectable brioche bun that elevates traditional morning fare. One customer even described their brisket and egg sandwich with jalapenos as a day-brightening experience! The joy is palpable, with flavors of spicy honey and house-marinated jalapenos lending each creation a distinct edge.

The atmosphere may be simple, with seating arrangements primarily in the dining hall or outside, yet it fosters a sense of community, echoing the friendly service provided by the staff. Visitors have noted the warmth and attentiveness of the employees, who clearly take pride in providing an exceptional experience. This camaraderie, paired with a commitment to quality ingredients, creates a welcoming environment that keeps patrons coming back for more.

With sandwiches winning hearts and lavender-infused lattes creating raves, Kitsch proves itself to be far more than just your average coffee stop. It’s a comforting retreat where flavor reigns supreme, and every bite tells a story. For anyone seeking an extraordinary start to their day or simply craving a fresh take on their favorite morning classics, Kitsch is a must-visit destination. It’s where passion meets plate, and the result is nothing short of delicious.

The sandwich I had was so good that I legit inhaled it. They were very friendly but that sandwich was so good I considered going back inside to tell them how good it was.

Went yesterday for the first time and ordered a brisket and egg sandwich. It came with grilled mushrooms. I skipped the cheese and requested jalapenos, which they marinate in house. Also got the spicy honey on the side. That sandwich was SOooo delicious!! I'm still thinking about it the next day. And, the staff was informative, helpful, and proud. It's hard to rate atmosphere because tables are in the hall and out front, so not much atmosphere, but don't let the deter you.

Reviewing for the Kitsch inside Gilman Hall on JHU Homewood campus Iced Breakfast at Tiffany’s latte is a MUST GET. It’s a perfect mix of sweet and cinnamon flavor that I am absolutely obsessed with. When I get rich, I would love to try their sandwiches someday (crying in broke college student haha) Highly recommend!!!! Way better than Starbucks latte ew And 6.89 gets you a HUGE large sized iced latte so that’s 10000% worth

One of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. I hope they expand a restaurant near Patterson park. We need more breakfast options. Their sourdough bread is unmatched. Omg and the latte! I don't know where they source there beans but it was one of the freshest coffee I ever tasted.

I was happy that I was able to find a parking spot nearby. Kitsch is located in the heart of Charles Village and Johns Hopkins University Homewood campus area. Found this little spot tuked inside the corner of the Carlyle Apartment Homes. Upon entry, I was immediately greeted and felt a sense of warmth from the sweetest soul. I had the choice of any egg: scrambled, fried, over easy; choice of bread, choice of protein, choice of veggies and choice of sauces. I decided on a scrambled egg sandwich on a mutli-grain with lettuce, tomato, Duke mayonnaise, and bacon. I did purchase some fermented beverages and was in awe to discover they were made from Baltimore and gives back to Baltimore City schools. I couldn't wait to get home to dive into my sandwich, and was happy that it stayed hot enough to still enjoy.... and sweet baby Jesus, I enjoyed every bite of my sandwich. Would definitely come back and hope this spot will be here to stay. Flavor: Decor: Customer Service: Convenience:

This restaurant will always be one of my favorites! They are tucked into a tiny spot in a huge building, but every inch of the place is filled with personality and charm. They have a good, creative menu and decent prices. Their food is always fresh and prepared with care. They take allergies very seriously. I have celiac's and feel safe eating here. When I ate there in person, I was able to see that they prepared my gluten free sandwich completely separately and with dedicated equipment. I usually order delivery through DoorDash while at work and everything is well packaged and arrives in great shape. Though it's small, they make good use of the space. They have some limited seating both indoors and out and even have some games there for you to play! I have recommended this place to friends and family and definitely think it's worth a visit!

Reddit said this was the best breakfast sandwich and they were not lying. The Cuban is terrific. Ham, swiss, eggs, pickles and dijonnaise. Also the staff was terrific. They put milk and sugar in my coffee for me which I think is a little thing but really appreciate. I wish it was closer to my house or my office but I will be back soon. As a side note, it's something about this particular neighborhood that I have been to three restaurants that were located inside older apartment buildings. It's a vibe up there.

I love this restaurant. It’s simple and to the point in the best way. For example, the humble breakfast sandwich. You can crazy, you can go classic. And it’s all good. They make the eggs to order. Seldom is an egg cooked beforehand good let alone edible. They seem to know this and I love them for it. The whole pickles? Incredible. Perfect mix of cafe and deli. I cannot wait for them to expand because the downside is it’s in what is essentially JHU housing. But price and consistency is worth it every time.
